The soundscape for this game explored the intimate, personal nature of the Blizzard fan-favorite psionic operative Nova, reflecting the shift in scale from deep customization of army units and structures in our previous games to one of individual narrative.
This is the stereo M&E mix (i.e no dialog, just music and sound effects) for the opening cinematic in StarCraft II: Nova Covert Ops. In the game, it's a 5.1 surround mix with the localized dialog and visuals rendered real-time by the engine. I did all of the dialog, sound effects, and Foley editing, designing, and mixing. Composer Jason Hayes delivered the music. We did not book a Foley session for these cutscenes, so all of the human movement sounds were edited in. The only pre-existing sound was the original StarCraft cloaking ability which was extended and modified to fit the cinematic nature in the shot of Nova turning invisible.
